my little sis
 Canela Limay Wood: born Friday June 7th, 1985... in the middle of a Trivial Pursuit game. Yep, that's right, I was staying at my aunt's house for the night... and the evening had just begun. An all out game of Trivial Pursuit with just 8 year old me, and the 'dults. Only to be interrupted by a little red head who had finally made her way into the world. Timing is not one of her strong points!
Since then we've had our moments. For the longest time she was just that little brat I couldn't shake. But for the most part she's become a great friend and multitudes of fun to hang out with! We can always agree on a good movie, cool music, and a restaurant with food to meet both our needs (she's got the weirdest taste in the world... if it's got carbs, she's all over it!) it's been neat to make that connection with her. |
| Canela is also known as one of my concert buds. Newsboys, Deleriou5!, Audio Adrenaline, it's all good. Our first year at Creation really set thing off. No one else we really knew were there, so it was just us in our groove and sunscreen (... and hats, and sunglasses, and sweat, and sunburns, and mist from our spray bottles...) I can't speak for her, but I had a blast (I'm pretty sure she did too, since she came back for a second year!)
My only gripe (okay, maybe not the only one...) is her shopping. I'm more of a hunter. I know what I want, and hunt it down in an efficient manner. Canela, on the other hand, lingers and ponders, and slowly meanders from place to place. With no rhyme or reason behind her to push her on... she takes a millennium to finish. It probably doesn't help the situation at all that she is capable of wearing almost anything, while hardly any of it is even made in my size. I just sit and twiddle my thumbs, while my feet get sore, as she tries endless outfits on.
Games, games, games! Canela was born a natural card shark. She's been known to weasel money out of unsuspecting Argentine men playing poker. She can beat her own father at Canasta (not many have accomplished that feat with Colin). She gets just as upset as I do at stupid WWTBAM contestants. Plus she's a sports fanatic! She's played all your basic community sports: softball, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. Praise God she's finally narrowed it down to volleyball and softball, both of which she is great at. There's only so much supportive spectating one can handle in a given year! My recovering bleacher butt is grateful!
At one point in time I had helped Canela create her own little page at GeoCities. It's since expired and she's yet to put out the effort to make another. So until then we'll all have to bug her! |
