Reader beware... what follows may be scalding, harsh, and downright pent-up frustration & confusion speaking! On that note, this is also in regards to a couple people whom I care for greatly (this may very well be why it riles me up so much!)
The only reason I've chosen to finally share my thoughts on this issue, is that they've invited it by making the entirety of the situation public, internet worthy, etc.
So, without further ado, I present to you *stepping up onto the soapbox she was holding under her arm* my thoughts on "An Odd Vacation"
*shaking head, still in disbelief*
Hans & Stephanie were to be wed in early September. They have had been together for 3 years already, so I see no/few reasons to question the relationship. However, approximately a month (a bit more if I recall correctly) before the set date, Hans called it off.
Of course no one, aside from Hans himself, can truly know what exactly went down... why... whatever. But they say they are still best friends. Now is where it all gets a bit weird.
They had their tickets for a Hawaiian Honeymoon. They chose to go, on their non-honeymoon adventure, anyway!? Furthermore, they blogged, YouTube video blogged, and flickr-ed. It's a given that I was subscribed, and made my way through all the info (in pieces, as I could handle it.) I cringed the whole way through, constantly questioning myself as to how the heck-a-ma-bob this could honestly be happening!?
First off, as a professed man of God, how can Hans honestly share a hotel/condo/meant for a honeymoon/whatever with a woman... without intentions, or implications thereof? Aren't there standards he holds himself to? Can he truly allow himself to think he's not completely messing with her mind?
Then you factor in the fact that she's running around in her bikin the whole time, and she's spectacularly beautiful, and he's videoing, shooting pictures, and creating quasi-glamour shots (nearing soft-porn [ok, so maybe that's a bit harsh... but there are two shots in particular that honest to God, give my the freaky heebie-jeebies!]) Now, were he doing this merely for his own pleasure, enjoyment, experience, whatever... that would be one thing for me to still have issue with. But, setting this up on the internet. For everyone, their dog, and the scuzz buckets of the world to see? That's just wrong! Aside from the fact that no man needs to be taunted with that... what about his "friends" who might be watching/looking? Is it a show off thing? Or sincere naivete?
I know I have forewarned male friends against viewing the streams, as I know they do their best to avoid anything of the such; why have it slap you in the face from someone you would expect to hold to a higher standard!?
*heavy sigh*
Maybe I'm mistaken. Maybe Stephanie really is "fine" with it all. However, I have a really hard time believing that. nothing against Stephanie or her own personal strength. It just has to do with the nature of a woman, the way God made us, to relate to man. We believe actions, and the implications thereof, more than "words". Not to mention the holding out factor, for love... we'll wait as long as it takes... for the real deal!
*growl*
girl deserves better, that's the long & the short of it. and I expect more from a Vande.
