Talk about creating scandal with a title, or a tagline. Amazing how the pure truth can be so feared, opposed, and ridiculed!
I've got to give props to the guys at TripleXChurch.com, they are out there: talking about the tough stuff, facing it head on, and getting their hands dirty at every opportunity, all in the name of Jesus. Meanwhile they're having to deal with constant flack from a large part of the christian community. That, I do not understand!
Is that what we've come to? So, set apart & cut off from the world [mostly its sin], that we can't see the love He has for the sinner. Missing out on the hope He has for the lost. What happened to our hearts breaking at the mere thought of such dreadful traps and inhumanities? Where's the love, the compassion, the Heart of Christ?
Maybe I'm a bit too riled up, but I honestly don't think so. I think we too often turn our heads and choose to simply look away. Deciding someone dug their own hole & now they get to dwell in it is so much easier then actively being available to pull them out once they reach the rocky bottom! The vulnerability involved in an outstretched arm is intense; you could be rejected... they could choose not to follow... you might have to walk away knowing you could not help, today! But the rewards so much outweigh that scary possibility. What if they reach out? What if your words & your love speak Jesus into their lives? What if you are the only one who has ever even offered that truth to them? Can we really live with that even slim chance at letting someone fall off the deep end [of no return]?
My heart is leaping. I've been listening to Dirty Little Secrets [XXXChurch podcast] all morning. The Trinity Project is what it's all about. That, and people like Shelley Lubben (sharing through the miracle of her own testimony) is what it's all about folks! How long can we sit back and pretend it doesn't affect us?
