good reading

One of my favorite, life impacting reads, aside from the Bible: Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends & Influence People

I'd make it required reading for all highschools, and anyone intending to work directly with people... If I could convince folks it's worth the time, I'd supply copies for all my family & friends to peruse!

If you haven't heard of the book "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie, then you must have been living on another planet for the last seventy years. Indeed, Carnegie's "How to Win Friends" is considered by many to be the original self-help book, being one of the first ‘how-to' manuals to hit bookstores every where.

The astronomical sales and untold longevity of "How to Win Friends" has much to say about it's timeless advice. Indeed not only has it sold over 15 million copies, it was published as long as ago as 1937, in an era very different to the one we live in today. Despite the enormous global changes, social revolutions and technological advances that have altered our world since then, Carnegie's observations and advice are just as valuable now than they were when he first wrote them. Indeed the fact that Carnegie's "How to Win Friends" has continued to be such a hugely popular and successful book, is simply solid empirical proof that the techniques and methods he propounds are unassailable.

If you don't already know about Carnegie's best selling book, it is essentially based around key principles about the psychology of human relationships. Using some fundamental ideas as it's basis, it then goes on to advise its readers how to master the intricate mental and emotional subtleties of important human interactions to help advance both your career and your life more generally. It is a manual that teaches people a variety of clever strategies to help control and direct the responses and actions of other people in manner that is effective and ethical. And after all, what person couldn't use some help getting what they want from the key people in their lives?

Indeed, now more than ever people everywhere are seeking effective ways to better control the outcomes of major events in their lives. Dealing with other workmates, getting ahead in the company, winning that new job or promotion are all things that we worry about every day. With Carnegie's help, you can steer your dealings with other people in a manner that lets you get where you want to go, but doesn't blatantly manipulate or ride rough-shot over the other party.

The classic wisdom of Carnegie's "How To Win Friends" is delivered in a simple and entertaining writing style that distills complex psychological concepts into practical and easy to understand principles. And it's important to understand that this book is all about practical measures that people can employ every day. It is straightforward enough for anyone to understand, proving examples and illustrations to clarify more complex ideas.

Indeed whether you are the managing director of a major global corporation, or a student looking to win that all-important first job, "How to Win Friends" is essential reading for getting ahead in an increasingly competitive world.
