So this last week has been amazing, scary, weird, wonderful, and awesome (in more ways than one!)
Sound oxymoronic? Tell me about it!
First & foremost, Bethel peeps were in town for their Spring Break... we were quick to take advantage, inviting Tor & Beth to my house to have dinner & catch up with Jonathan & myself. RuthAnne was also around after her GED testing, so we all caught up whilst playing some dominos (muggins was the tactical game.) The night culminated with some sweet God time, praiyng for each other, and really seeing God do some big moves!
Thursday I got a call for company from the beautiful Beth, and we hit the Crazy Pepper since Dog River was closing as we arrived! Great eats, Shirley Temples, demanded/deserved cherries, and good company... can't beat that!
Saturday was scheduled for RuthAnne's belated birthday hike & dinner party-ness. Weather had another idea, so dinner was all that occured (good thing too, since my family forgot to inform me of our Easter dinner being scheduled for that same night!) So I hit some family time in the early evening/late afternoon, than headed to the guy's house for Jonathan's Famous Pizza! Yum(squared)
Many people popped in & out, all enjoying bits a foodage, and blessing the birthday girl! In the end we played some ferocious rounds of Pit, until we were nearly horse... and culminated with a tight round of One Page Stories that were tear worthy, and everyone surely got their ab workout for the weekend!
Sunday I went to my sister[Heidi]'s house for that side of the family's Easter gathering... food was more belated than I expected, but I made due.
Then we watched two tiny munchkins attempt an egg hunt... I quickly made my exit to finish off preparations for another birthday dinner party.
Elizabeth mentioned to me in closing on thursday that she really wanted to do som'n celebratory for her birthday here, before they went back to redding. So much a frenzy was thrown and it was decided to take advantage of the last possible evening (vs. 7am pre-leaving Monday) for fun!
She mentioned tea... so I ran with it. I got a cute tea-pot (it's pink) and super yummy tea I discovered at Doppio. I made oodles of tea/finger sandwiches: salmon & cream cheese cut into fishy shapes, a chipotle chicken salad cut into hearts & triangles, & tomato with bleu cheese & a bit of fresh spinach on sourdough pressed into semi-sealed circles & otherwise cut into larger rectangles. Then there was a scrumptious quiche (that I just finished up) with greek olives, goat cheese, and spinach. Plus I'd prepped a couple desserts to seal the deal: bird's nests (a crowd pleaser) & white chocolate fudge with craisins & cashews!
It was all very yummy, and worth every minute of the frantic preparation.
We lingered through a nice leisurely dinner... and eventually decided on a game to play: Who, What, Where
oh my the diversity of that game, it's so different everytime I play! This game was just as memorable and a couple pix are up on my fridge for posterity... I'm thinking of doing some scans to share the love!
All to say it was wonderful, real, and great!
despite any drauma that soon followed.
