currently i'm slightly distracted by the incessant random lighting in the sky, as a storm brews and proceeds to scare the bejeezees out of me! however, earlier today I had the distinct pleasure to experience a plethora of unusual moments along my millions of drives around town.
seen at the corner of 7th & Cascade: a guy mid-manhole (only visible from the waist up at the street level) head thrown back with wild abandon as he attempts to pour mass quantities of sunflower seeds into his mouth. soon spying my entranced gaze, he sends an acknowledging nod my way and smiles.
as I round the bottom of 13th, onto Oak/Cascade: another man, this one in a mini-van of sorts, is at the light... fully contorted to the side, with no regard for the steering wheel any longer, as he's trying to take snap a shot of the slightest scope of scenery (across the river towards Mt. Adam's) I actually caught myself wishing i'd noted it earlier as I would have slowed down and/or stopped to allow him his moment... instead I rolled by with a cowering "sorry" yelled out the window.
along Sunset: lady with a ball cap is walking along, slightly distracted by the fact a car is coming up on her... as I approach I see it's my boss [aka: "the pregnant lady"] I stop to say hi. apparently she's flagged me down... "can you give me a ride to my house? I really have to pee!" she says, almost exasperated as she hops (as much as a pregnant lady can hop) into my vehicle. Seems as though she'd actually prayed I'd drive by, as all other contemplations of relieving herself were ix-nayed with the thoughts of getting stuck in squat position or, worse yet, poison oak...
