my email to six apart was responded to (as I'm sure many were) in a very kindly manner, encouraging me to post my simplified thoughts on the matter as they are now trying to compile "rational, just the facts sort of posts with simple information... no commentary, no cussing, no judgments."
--> in short, I maintain a somewhat extensive personal site including a fotolog, blog, and various other media-logs that are simply addendums to my main blog. I've chosen to use mt to streamline my pages to ease the flow of traffic, as well as allow me to maintain and update in a simple manner.
I have two friends who have blogs on my domain at present, yet they really only maintain them during school breaks. there are extensive users attached to my account as I have been going in and integrating older pictures, handwritten notes, and such that others may have authored; yet they never actually are others logging in [it is me merely trying to give credit where credit is due.]
in all, my install of mt has 13 blogs & 19 authors...
I worry mostly that the restrictions are built into the system not allowing you to add another "blog" or "author", albeit for maintenance purposes, if you haven't fronted an upgrade or add-on.
please note: I also maintain my work's site with this system. we have only 6 employees, and are a non-profit organization... currently, due to monetary restraints the site is subdomained, under my current hosting plan, yet there is a separate mt install, still... an issue once we were to be able to get the site fully functional.
wow... I had no intention of rambling on so much!
my original email/inquiry follows:
I've been using mt for quite some time now... I've basically integrated the functionality into the majority of my site maintenance creating "blogs" for various areas of interest... even the simplest thing such as my "friends" & "family" sections... simply simplifying my maintenance vs. hand coding each page over and over... allowing me to more oft add new info.therefore my mt install has 13 blogs at present [mine, a fotolog, a booklog, a movie log, a music log, 2 friends' smaller blogs, about me, friends, family, 1 retired friend's blog, 3 'cat's basically retired blogs]
plus I oft add "users" to show who actually snapped a picture or wrote a guest entry (if it wasn't me)... although they otherwise wouldn't access the blog.
basically all this said to note that I make no money off of my site/domain, appreciate greatly the product you've developed... yet at present can't afford over $150 to purchase a license that would fit my current perceived usage!
thus preventing obvious frustration.
