Ok, so much debate has gone into this... from my theme to x-mas music, and right back again! Basically "it's all good!" and I hope everyone will eagerly participate! Please be sure to read carefully before signing up!
The Theme: me/the story of my life
Either a bunch of stuff that you think represents yourself, where you are now... how you got there, etc... or you can even be real fun and shmancy and compilate a sort of chronology of songs that tells your story
Here's how it works:
-you sign up; letting me know exactly how many copies of said cd you are willing to create & part with...
- after the sign-ups are over, I'll determine exchange groups (if need be.) You will then receive an e-mail from me telling you the names and addresses of the people in your group (if you have anyone here locally around me... they can all be sent in one package to moi!) You burn [the given number] identical cds. I'd recommend keeping/making an extra one for yourself. You should then receive as many cds as you sent out!
The rules:
- I should either know you personally, or you should have a blog. This way people can either check out your blog once they've got your cd; or they can at least find you in my friends pages...
- If you're not going to follow through and make your cds, please don't bother signing up. It would be a shame if one or two people ruined this for others.
- You must live in the US (possibly Canada, we can surely work something out.) Since this is my first swap, I'm going to limit it to the areas where I know most of you guys live.
- Remember that most people can't play mp3s in their car, so make sure they're something that will play in a standard car stereo.
- Please be sure to put your name, URL, or e-mail on your CD somewhere. Identification is the key!
Guidelines on creating your cds:
- Include a track listing. If someone like an artist, they might want to buy more music by them. Let us know who it is. (even a simple piece of paper with the info will suffice...) If you want to go so far as to explain each track and it's meaning in your life, the story, the cd... that would be excellent!
- Fill up the CD as much as you can. There's 80 minutes on a blank CD. Don't laze out on us and make a 30 minute CD.
- You should definitely use a jewel or clam case when sending your cds to protect it during mailing. You can get them cheap anywhere.
- I know a lot of people are graphically inclined, so feel free to make your CD a work of art.
- Don't be afraid to put on "cheesy" music. If you like it, others probably will too.
- Don't be afraid to put on music that no one has ever heard before either. Billboard or MTV may never have known this music, but you did, so that's what counts.
- Please be considerate and understand that most of us involved are probably christians... who are somewhat particular about musical choices. No profanity, no lewd sexual content, no hate-mongering messages, etc.
I'm all about free speech, but I also have a right to choose what contaminates the air in my own vehicle, home, etc.
If you've gotten this far and you still want to sign up, "hooray!" send an e-mail to me[at]amancay[.]com and make sure you reference the swap in the subject line. You must include the following information:
- Your name
- Mailing address
- Your blog URL (if applicable)
- how many cds you can create/part with!
Sign-up, asap... I'll most likely cut them off in a week or so... I will send e-mails to everyone letting you know who is in your group, where you should send stuff, etc. by friday, october 24th. You should have all of your cds burned and in the mail (or to me direct) no later than monday, november 3rd.
Start thinking about your creations now... so you're not feeling a crunch at the end of the month!
Please spread the word! More people equals more music! Just be sure to link to this URL, because eventually this entry will cycle off the main page.
If you have any other questions, you can e-mail or leave a comment.
Special thanks goes out to Kymberlie for both the inspiration and allowing me to use most of her rules and guidelines.
