wow, what a day!
I woke up rather early under the circumstances, aching to encounter that someone else was in my boat! alas, it's not always so...
I made my way to Beth's home, whilst calling her in the phone. I invited her out to coffee with me. As she was getting herself up and at'em, I made another attempt at calling Ms. VdB (I'd been trying to connect with her all last night). Mathys answered... and offered to join us for the coffee if we crossed the river. Der, that's what we did!
Nabbing a rather dapper young man for coffee we headed into White Salmon for a slammin' morning adventure. We each got our warm beverages of choice (Mathys rather impressed with the quantity of caffeine involved in mine), and sat around a table in the window chatting leisurely. Once we finished, we hopped back in the car and drove around a bit looking/gawking at houses and showing some that have historical meanings in our lives...
Back at the Vande Bruggen home, I promptly got out to bond with new baby kitties. As time progressed we were going to begin the previously stated plans of gathering to play games at some public/outdoor location, only to have madre VdB ix-nay that one almost immediately.
As Beth and I got all prepared to drive away, Ms. Vande came out... and we finally got a chance to begin talking... we talked, and time flew by crazily. Next thing I knew, I was starving... and then cooking [yummy spaghetti] for everyone. We actually cleared off the dining room table *gasp* and all sat down and shared a meal *several mouths still hanging open*. It was über-nice!
At lunch chores were handed out graciously by the mother, and young men all nodded in acknowledging agreement. Beth & I made sure all bases were covered (via a drive out to cell phone reception.) and returned to await finished chores.
First came zee Boggle, where poor Hendrik dove into the unknown & Pieter began to actually hold his own [he won a game or two]! Then Mathys came in for more Ultimate Uno... and finally we all joined in for Loaded Questions. It was much laughter, great insight, and down-right good ole fun stuff!
I'm super happy to have this great group of friends around me who can not only tolerate me on a daily basis... but even go so far as to pretend to appreciate me on occasion (more oft than not!) People who support each other with prayer, positive reinforcement, and just general reassurance... who can beat/knock that!?
Love you guys! (missed you today Phronz... hope you had a good lazy day 'round the home!) Please let me know when I wear out my welcome...
