I'm still in a bit of a daze; somewhere between freak out and a constant prayer.
All I do know is I remember glancing at the caller id as it scrolled through the screen [of my cell], and then answering the call with a simple click yes. The caller identified themselves, the number they were calling from flashed through my memory... only this time clearer, as if it was just then registering in my awakening brain.
I don't remember hearing the phone ring. I don't remember searching for the phone (which is a must as it lies amidst the 3 remotes and other odds & ends along the back of the couch.) I don't remember having fallen asleep [I know I did, as the television is on the 'end of a show' pvr screen... and I certainly don't remember all of that episode.] I don't remember the actual waking up again.
The caller was someone I know, a client (which puts thing into a bit of perspective, noting the time.) Certainly not expecting a call from this person, nor at this time [1:28,] I'm almost immediately alert and on edge. As they explain their dilemma a voice appears in the background, [something to the extent of] "Get the f*** out of my house!"
To which the caller [deservedly] responded, "Make me"
After which I heard little to nothing... and the phone went dead!
A quick prayer and a mental pros and cons checklist later, I called 911. They knew whom I was referring to, had an officer in the area, and said they'd check it out.
Now I can't sleep. (Could you?) I've taken to pacing (though my legs aren't quite as awake as my mind yet... so I did some stumbling at first), praying, and now trying to make sense of it all.
Lord please keep everyone safe!
