Sleep, no I never get enough [Two for Tuesday]
- When you're tired, do you embrace sleep -- either by napping or calling it a night -- or do you fight it and stay awake?
if I've got nothing better to do, ie nothing specific I need or want to accomplish... sleep it is! However, if I've got email to read, blogs to write, or actual work to do: I push myself hard and possibly reach for a Rockst*r!
- Do you have any funny sleeping rituals or habits?
Umm, no! "I don't know what you're talkin' about!"
I love to sleep with the rain pounding down on the roof... or outside an opened window. I sleep in the nude, then again... that's hardly a surprise!

"A Short Story" by Amancay Maahs
write your own story...
there's more where that came from...
Once upon a time there was a young girl named Amancay. Amancay was 24 years old and lived in Hood River, OR. While walking home from school one day, a purple cat jumped out from behind a mask and tackled Amancay to the ground. But just when she was about to let out a scream for help, Amancay realized that the purple cat was only licking her face, not trying to bite it off. At that moment, Amancay decided to keep the purple cat as a pet. And on the way home she decided to name her pet purple cat "Torsten". When Amancay and her new pet finally got home, guess who was standing on the front porch? That's right, it was Amancay's mother, Elaine. And boy was she surprised to see a purple cat following Amancay into the yard! "What in world is that?" shouted Elaine.
"It's a purple cat," answered Amancay.
"Dah, I can see that, Amancay, but what on earth is it doing here?" said Elaine.
"It's my new pet!" answered Amancay.
"Oh you think so do you?" remarked Elaine. "I wouldn't get your hopes up. You know how your father hates purple cats. But, well, I suppose you can keep him until your father comes home."
And with that Amancay grabbed Torsten by the scruff of the neck and led her new pet into the house--even though she knew her father was probably going to dissaprove. Once in the house, Amancay and Torsten played and played, that is until Amancay's favorite television show, "Days Of Our Lives", started. At that point Amancay forgot all about Torsten having an unsupervised run of the house. That is until half way through "Days Of Our Lives", when Amancay was brought back to reality when she heard her father shout, "Grrr!!! Amancay! Get your squishy in the bathroom... Now!!"
With that Amancay rushed into the bathroom to see what all the fuss was about. When she entered the bathroom, there stood her father, Norberto, pointing toward the desk. "Will someone please explain that?" asked her father.
Then, as Amancay followed her father's finger to where it was pointing, she instantly knew what her father was so upset about. There, smack dab in the middle of the desk, was the biggest pile of cat doo-doo she had ever seen! "I don't even want to know how that got there," said Norberto. "But you had better get it cleaned up now! And you had better get rid of whatever it is that could have done such a thing!"
Well, knowing her father as well as she did, Amancay knew there was no sense even asking her father if she could keep Torsten for a pet. So without hesitation, Amancay set out to find where Torsten was hiding. After a few minutes of looking, Amancay discovered Torsten crouched beneath the table that Amancay did her surfing the web on. "Come on, Torsten, it's time to find you a new home. And hey, don't look at me that way, I'm not the one who did the dirty deed on the desk!" scolded Amancay. "Thanks to you I'll never get to have my own pet cat!!"
And with that Amancay led Torsten out of the house and down to the local amazon.com. They had a pet section and Amancay knew the owner would find Torsten a good home. So after saying good-bye to Torsten, and thanking the owner of amazon.com, Amancay walked backed home and attempted to dround her sorrows by slamming down a half dozen Mt Dews. But Amancay's pitty party came to an abrupt end when her father reminded her about the mess she had neglected to clean up. And low and behold, midway through the clean-up, Amancay suddenly became thankful that someone else was going to have to do it from now on.
The End. ...enough already!

Wo-Manly Stuff [This-or-That: October 1, 2002]
- Front or rear wheel drive?
My daddy always taught me to go for the front! Around here we get too much snow for anything else... unless, of course, you get all wheel and/or 4 wheel!
- Car or truck or van?
Wagon... none of the compact stuff.
- Fancy or utilitarian?
is this a religious question? I'm confucious.
there's more where that came from...
- Power or manual windows/locks?
*on knees* power please!
I can remember when my "Party mobile" went awry and I had to manually roll the window down just to get the door open (using the outside handle, grr!) even in the coldest of winters...
- Small econobox or giant luxo cruiser?
say what?
- Factory or aftermarket radio?
oh, I'm sure my speakers are aftermarket. Although they were in the vehicle when I bought it. However I did promptly go out and pimp it up with a cd changer/tape deck with removable faceplate controller system that I absolutely adore and can't imagine living without [my own private radio station]
- Lease or buy?
buy, buy, buy... then you can sell, sell, sell
- Perform own maintenance or farm it out?
"farm it out"? I have my daddy... and other paid [or not always paid] people who help me out
- Hi-test brand name or cheap-o fuel?
around here I can guarantee that it all comes from the same trucks, so I go to where it's cheapest cpmared to where I am at the moment and how low [my tank] really is.
- Run-it-till-the-wheels-fall-off or a new one every two years?
till the rims, doors, window handles, etc... are on their last sting
Leave it to a man to ask us a bunch of stuff we don't know much about... I find it utterly amusing that not only am I not the only one who's confused about some of these questions, but the questioner himself has yet to answer them! ...enough already!
