paint me orange and call me a couch potato!

*singing a la Steve*
"We just figured out the boob tube,
We just figured out the boob tube,
We just figured out the boob tube,
'Cause we're really smart!"

In honor o' the impending dish installment... I went to my good ole Uncle Wally, and got me a good deal on some home electronics. Sure, I probably didn't get the *snobby voice over* top of the line, but you gives... it's big, it's cheap, and it's mine! Mine... all mine!
For merely half of what I got selling my dvd player... I got a tv more than twice to size of my previous [tried and true pal since high school!], and a tight dvd/cd/mp3/jpeg/kodak-photo-cd player! All by our friends at Apex... and with a money back, no questions asked, 90 day guarantee! Woo Hoo! (still not ready to use "woot!" until I figure out it's original roots!... haha, woot/root *tee hee*!)

The dish guys didn't get here until Days was almost over (15:50). We were originally scheduled as a morning appointment, but got called the night before and bumped back. 'No prob!' as far as we were concerned... that is, until they got here.
They'd obviously had quite the day. Ranging from difficult customers to faulty plug-ins... cranky customer service reps to endless downloads... in other words, the Monday [#2/Tuesday I was informed... they work Sundays] from Hades! Seth (our super-smart, head honcho installer guy) couldn't bring himself to smile, no matter how hard I worked my charm. All he could think about were the obstructions in his path: stucco, fishing cable through a wall, crawling under a house in the toulies [is there an official spelling for that?], getting the dish somewhere you could actually access it in the snow, getting the dish somewhere you could access it to wire the cables...what a mess we'd thrown at him at the end of a day!
Meanwhile, Steve (work with me, we're going to call him that because I never actually caught his name... I know, *slaps hand* 'bad Amancay!') had a more settled approach. Ready to get up and at 'em...simply waiting for an actual decision and plan to be made. He answered lovely amounts of questions for me and chit-chatted a bit to ease the tension in the air.
They called in a third guy Pete (names are real... haven't been changed... well except for Steve, but let's move on!) because the work at hand was definitely more than they could handle in an evening, plus he was apparently in the area. He moseyed around with us... more! A decision was no closer.
Not to fret, eventually we did figure out what to do. For now, Amancay has satellite... my landlords have crappy cable... they left cable for Chuck to run himself (think: fishing line through a wall, crawling under the house, etc.)... and we'll test it out with my receiver. You see, the dish simply cannot be put anywhere on their house, receive a signal, be available for snow dusting off of, and reach the televisions sufficiently for guaranteed service. They can, however, guarantee service for me... and it's most likely that service would be just fine for them as well, they just can't legally guarantee it... in the mean time... my little studio apartment (and three cats) are livin' it up! woot!
I feel super bad for them... the hopes, the dreams... vanished! (Okay, I'm being over dramatic... it's tv for Pete [installer #3]'s sake!)

What impressed me most for the afternoon/evening affair was the air in here. Obviously kittys were taken aback by all the commotion. Teenie was first to take cover under my bed. Murray quickly joined her. Yet, Miss Thang was simply strutting her stuff for Steve, the whole time. She give him a wiggle here, a snuzzle there. She'd rub up against his legs... she even jumped up on his lap towards the end (going all out!) *raises hand a la second grade* Someone want to explain this to me? I can barely get her to let me look at her, let alone cuddle, and I nursed her from the time she could fit in my pocket with room to spare!
