ignorance vs. bliss
white guy with back to camera: "if you don't like it here, why don't you move back to Mexico?" pissed-off woman: "Mexico? I've never fucking been to Mexico!" - ew
As I peruse michelle's blog, reading intense entries from recent days... and immidiatley after the attack, I am blown away by the reality of it all. These are the experiences I knew existed yet hadn't known where to find them before. If I could get myself to sit still long enough to list each site I've looked at in some tangent of linkage... I would. Alas, I've got 12 windows open here... and I don't even know where they came from.
there's more where that came from...
I would encourage you, if you haven't already, seek this stuff out. It's real people, real feelings... for the most part un-editted (and Heaven forbid uncensored!) True history.
Had I been there... I'd hope I could share the same. Don't live in ignorance!
Should you choose to remain in ignorance!?
May the worms lick your hair!
Just as a precaution: know when to stop... when to shut the television off because you've seen too much, when to set the vcr because you know you want to watch it but right now you can't handle it all at once, when to shut off the computer, when to bookmark and whittle thru later, when to leave a conversation because you clearly are too emotional to continue or perhaps those speaking with you have gotten there before you, and mostly be sensitive to what your heart is telling you to do in light of what this country at large has[is] experienced[ing]. ...enough already!

Breakfast Before School
Don't you just love traditions? Even just the seemingly insignificant ones can be the most memorable.
Ever since Nela started attending public school (and after I was back in the United States) I've taken her out to breakfast on the first day of school! Along the way we've had guests (including current and ancient boyfriends, and mirror-esque best friends), but we haven't missed a beat. Granted the girl can't get herself to ever finish a plate that early in the morning... we still sit, chat, emote some excitement, etc!
there's more where that came from...
She's a senior this year. Yikes! Where'd all the time go? So, unless she stays local *fits of sarcastic giggles*... or I venture off to Cali, this simple tradition has seen it's end.
*singing and swaying* "I said, 'what about breakfast at Tiffany's?'
She said, 'I think I remember the film...'"
"When the toast is burnt, and all the milk has turned, and Cpt Crunch is waving farewell...
When the Big One find's you, may this song remind you, that they don't serve breakfast in Hell!" [She always was a Newboys fan]
PromoGuy mentioned something I try not to contemplate too greatly (for fear of feeling older than I already do!) A "Mind Set List" noting how differently the world apppears throug the eyes of these young folk.
For example:
- "Trivial Pursuit may have been played by their parents the night before they were born."
that would be me... the big sister! I was playing when Canela was born!
- "Cyberspace has always existed."
Lucky bastards!
- "A 'Hair Band' is some sort of fashion accessory."
We always called 'em scrunchies! ...enough already!

'would you like fries with that?' [This-or-That: September 9, 2002]
yea for potpourri (that's pronounced: 'pot-poury')!
- Paper or plastic?
they both have very important functions in a cat-run household. Paper: hold more... are sturdy... and make super fun playhouses/hideouts to catch passersby unawares! Plastic: are specifically for litterobx duty/clean-up/maintenance!
So when I'm at Rosauers I get my purchases stuffed in the paper... and grab a handful of plastic on the way out.
- Stripes or plaid?
ewww.... un I have cons in both! So, does that make me as cool as will?
- Baseball or football?
I much rather watch real football, but if you're talkin' 'Merican football... baseball is much more intriguing to watch! After all, I'm an expert spectator!
there's more where that came from...
- TV or movies?
depends on the time of year... I definitely have my year round guilty pleasure, but when it's sweeps... I'm inseperable from a good tv schedule and my handy-dandy remote. I tend to record most everything as opposed to lulling thru real time [don't you think it's about time someone bought me a TiVo?].
As for movies, I've got my trusty dvd collection... and I've been a NetFlix fan forevah!
- Craig Kilborn or Conan O'Brien?
Different strokes for different folks... I mostly end up watching Conan since the tv lingers on after Leno.
- Amazon or BN.com?
- Yahoo or Google?
Google was my homepage... until the invention of the amazing Toolbar!
- Star Trek or Star Wars?
I am Princess Leia... we've discussed this!
- Cats or dogs?
duh!
- Is that for here or to go?
with a pal... time on or hands... here! by myself, or on the move, to go!
...enough already!
