Skate Fest went off (can't say "without a hitch") today... lots of kids were there, some who planned to be, some who happened to be (which we all know is God's Hand!) A kool-kat-kid rapper kicked it off to his own beats made by his 'puter. Pretty tight for a 14 year old?! Then another group of young locals hit the ramp (impromptu stage) with their mugga retro-cool duds and some rockin' songs. Finally it was on to bands we either know and love... or at least have possibly heard of!?!
Somewhere in the mix (I'm too tired to try and remember an exact line-up) Flip-Hazard took over, with wings and all! Those girls are hardcore! One Shot came back for more, and actually stuck around for the whole show (maybe they were shmoozing...) FOTP, a fan-bearing fave, is always impressing me more and more! I even picked up their latest digs: "missing michel".
What, or who, stuck out to me (like a good sore thumb) the most was mg! the visionary. Word! The guy is fly beyond belief! From comic relief to super cool groove moves, he worked it! He even made lil' rapper dude's day by freestylin' with him! Oh, and total props for carrying worthy hoodies for his merch table. Tor & I each took home a different one, yea for trading!
Next it was on to Zealous & Falling-Up (which one was the "boyfriend" band?)... and last but never-ever could possibly be least, we got to rock it with Kutless. As Missy says, "These guys are going all the way!" Sucky for us all, a foogley (having nothing to do with fruggly [the muppet], I promise) neighbor complained about "the noise" and the cops came a told us to shut her down! Granted there was the whole permit thing (we had one, no worries,) not to mention the whole they were the last band thing... none the less, we got to enjoy only 3 songs from Kutless! Grr-ous maximus!
We can try and head down to Oregon City on Friday for a measly $2 'cause of the ordeal... but I was super-stoked to hear them out! Plus, the atmosphere of Hoody-ville's Skate Park can not be equaled!
All in all it was a long, lovely day. Zaiah & Lijah came down with Tor and stayed most the day. They played hang around the big boys' necks, get ice down amancay's back, and let's see if we can jump across the creek. Great times were had by all!
