1/XII/99 - flip-flop

"The aliens have landed!" was the only explanation last night. But today things have cleared up and returned to as normal a state as expected in my midst. Is that all the explaining you are going to do, you ask yourself!?! Nah, I'll indulge you a tid bit more.

After all the lil' angel stuff I said the other day (it's not because anyone read it. It hadn't yet been posted, and no one [as far as I know yet] that I know personally actually takes the time to read these entries regularly... [anyone lurking out there?] It just adds some form to the story, and a bit of irony), I received a call at work yesterday afternoon. Ed called me, polite and nice as ever. Then, all of a sudden, he snapped big time! There was nothing obvious to have triggered the snap, so more than anything I just sat back and scoffed it off. Scoff, scoff, scoff! Totally and completely uncharacteristic I was worried about what underlying source was creating this havoc in his mind. I can't say I wasn't hurt, but I praise God that I was smart enough to step back and analyze the situation from more than just an emotional standpoint.

Less than 24 hours later I was richly rewarded with a lovely spontaneous call, again at work. He immediately apologized for his behavior and the things he might have said and done. The actual explanation isn't anything I can help with, aside from pray. I worry about him, who wouldn't!? But I'm so happy he had the heart to so quickly acknowledge and step up to how he had reacted to me. That's what is important. I see a true effort on his part to create better interpersonal relationships all the way around. Kudos Ed! You deserve them!

Part of the first mentioned telephone conversation was letting me know that Sitg had a professional photographer come in, so I need not go to the rehearsal. I was still interested in being there, so I went early to see if it would be okay with Steighner. I talked to him about snacks (it's almost become a tradition, somewhat of an expectation... I'd hate to let any well deserving actor or actress down) and, as always, ended up pushing back my sleeves to help out with something. When I did eventually get the opportunity (and guts) to ask Stig if he'd mind if I stayed around I made sure to let him know I would be okay if I couldn't. He said as long as I stayed back and wasn't a distraction it would be okay.

I almost forgot a wonderful detail! I'm not sure if it was in the moment or what, but Ed got me a surprise today at Fall*Apart. He asked me to guess what it was, and with high hopes ("hot apple pie in the sky, hopes") I said, "Corkscrew Follies?"

I heard him groan in disbelief. (Poor guy, I think he really wanted to surprise me in a spectacular way! I was wonderfully surprised man, thanks!) What can I say! That's a good thing isn't it? It means he hit the spot with what he got! I was totally psyched! Woo Hoo, more roller coasters!
