7/XII/99 - twits galore

Grrr! Reader beware! For some reason, I've chosen today to rant about some people and attitudes that really chap my hide. During the course of last week two people in particular really struck a chord in my nervous system making me almost fly off every handle I've got. Between the two of them, they seemed to cover evry moment either pre-show, between acts, or post-show... and even more so at Shari's. They aren't a cooperative effort or anything, infact I bet they are equally oblivious to the grunting and headaches they cause me.

there's more where that came from...
The first one most people can guess. She's little miss student body president who thinks the world and a half about herself. I offer my congrats on her self esteem, but c'mon... do you really have to be so upitty about it? I almost lost it last Tuesday when she immediately tried to take charge of the situation (people talking backstage) as soon as Stig had walked out of the theater. Like I've said to everyone I can think of, if I were in the play with her (one of her peers) I would have jumped all over her for attempting such a feat with blatant rudeness and hipocrisy. First off, you don't set yourself apart from peers when trying to lead... you remain in your position and work from their level. She, on the other hand, stood right up, turned around, and took charge from a "me vs. you all" standpoint. It just disgusts me. The worst of it was that after having stated that, "Us upperclassmen, the seniors, should set an example for the lowerclassmen, the freshmen..." she did an about face and walked out before the discussion had finished. When she got called on it (by Ed, woo hoo, high five Mister Man, right on!) she just shrugged it off with excuses and yet again walked away before full culmination. I must admit that "Twit" was an accurate description and, as stated, the nice way to put it!
The other girl (yes, another girl... guys don't really seem to get under my skin like girly-girls do, I guess I just don't expect as much from them) and I don't even really interact. But she has this way of quickly working me to my last nerve. She's also one of those people who tries to loudly take control of an occasion, whether or not she's qualified to do so. For example: we were at Shari's, she had gotten there before me, but hadn't asked for a table yet. She made the assumption that 6 would be sufficient seating. Yeah right, after a play... more like six tables! So Lydia listened to me of course, since I have a good rep with her (and she likes our tips!). Now, when we sat down, this girl is almost standing in her seat as she's pointing to who needs to sit where. Remember that I finazzled the tables, and she's trying to run the show. I finally gave up trying to maintain my cool, and the few seats I wanted to secure with some buds, and went to another table. I swear there must have been visible fume coming out of my ears at least.
The strange thing is she somehow reminds me of Monika from back when we were in middle school: stealing the show, shmoozing the boys, scantily clad, trying to be all that! Nothing against Monika really, I love her to death. We've all had our moments and after all this time (and the eminent changes w've gone through after high school) it's silly to hold such grudges. I am, however, quite proud of myself for sticking with my guns and biting my tongue instead of telling this poor girl what she can do with her attitude! What a site that would have been! I'm not interested in all the post-guilt of losing it like that in public again.
So that's my story, in all it's glory! Hate to disappiont by not giving exact names. These are just my own personal rants... not a public forum for ripping apart weak women. So this is what you get for now.
Oh... you thought what you just read was bad... wait till you hear what I just found out!
Before the play Ed announced that 24 of his CD's were stolen, including my Fat Boy Slim... (I had just asked him on Saturday to mark it, like all the rest of my CD's, with my name if he was going to have it there) from the men's (hear that guy's? I called you men!) dressing room. His stereo was still there, as were three or four random left behind CD's, and mysteriously... so was his carrying case. The idiot who took the CD's actually took the time and effort to remove them all from the case, and leave it behind. How lame and odd is that? And that's not the worst of it.
During notes, before the show, Stig announced that right after the curtain call they would have a mandatory meeting in the music room to discuss something. He has amazing tact, because if they had even begun to discuss it pre-show, the show would have sucked raw eggs. Turns out a butt-load of money was also stolen... from Stig's office, sometime between yesterday and today. How lame is that? Not only was it money from the last weekend of the play, but tons of people had turned in a deposit for their trip to Scotland, there was an auction over the weekend as well, lots of money was involved. Not only did this person (or these people) take away a lot of money, but they've robbed true-hearted students who've worked long and hard for that money, putting forth major effort. They've struck a chord deep in most of those kids... and there's gonna be hell to pay once they figure out who is behind it all.
It will be a free for all after discovery I'm sure. "I get the groin!", one will shout!
"No me, let me!", another will plead. So many people will be pissed (and already are) the culprit/s will surely be ostracized! What were they thinking? The music and drama department of all places. That area is sacred! There is an amazing bond among those who frequent the place and gather there. You don't want to mess with them, or get them upset. There's nothing worse than a pack of dramatics who've been wronged, can't you just imagine the scene?
I was appalled enough thinking someone would have the gall to break the bond by taking Ed's CD's, but this is ridiculous. Like a punch in the heart, I say! Growl, growl, growl! Luckily, it is most likely that someone, somewhere, has to have an inkling as to who it could or would be! That's the glamour of a small town, things get 'round fast and you're not likely to get away with such a scheme. Unless their not the bragging type, and were smart enough to make it a solo operation... they're screwed by circumstance. Now everyone is on the look out and ready to point an accusatory finger! Bye bye bad guy!
Oh, almost forgot another disturbing detail. About a week ago Krum's personal lap-top was taken from the department as well... a conspiracy maybe? or just an extremely observant and ill-minded being lurking in the shadows?
I've never seen such total and utter conglomerated discontent pour out of the band room like that before. If this doesn't bring them together I don't know what will! My teeth are still clenched as I write this, I can't shake the fury and confusion it's instilled in me!
