23/XI/99 - dork factor #9

Calvin: 'Oh Boy, Oh Boy!'

So here I sit at home, my foot in the air freezing, immobile, unless I decided to try and hobble/hop/hurt from where ever it is that I am to somewhere else! In case it isn't totally and completely obvious yet. I've inevitably injured myself in a stupid manner.

little 'Miss Innocent'
Yep, that's right, little Miss non-physical has yet again found the misfortune of a silly mistake. I wasn't playing basketball, volleyball, or any thing else that might glamourize the situation. No, I was at work. I was taking a simple little step to the side from my normal desk, on firm and flat ground.
So what actually happened? My foot was unmistakably asleep. As usual I had been sitting at my desk with one leg automatically crossed undeneath the other for comfort. I realized it had gotten to that no-feeling point, so I uncrossed my legs. After a bit I stood up to organize some things on my desk. I was standing just fine. Then, without thinking (that must be a key point in this story) I took a step to the side. I don't think my foot knew what the rest of my body was trying and/or planning to do, because I immediately collapsed. I ended up on the floor in a heap next to Amy's chair.
Amy was confused to say the least. After we realized I was probably remotely okay, all we could do was laugh hysterically. It must have been quite a sight. Everyone else in the office was just disappointed that they missed out on seeing that! (They're so supportive!)
After my foot began to wake up, for real this time, I could tell it was gonna hurt like a mother! I called La Clínica (where I used to work) and got myself an appointment right away. As soon as I got off work (only an hour later) I hobbled painstakingly all the way out to my car (that college has the worst parking lot position I've ever seen) with Amy at my side. I drove straight to the clinic and got in a little earlier than scheduled.
Dr. Laura Starrett said that I had just sprained it, but she want's me to be extremely careful. If I happen to injure it again anytime in the near future, I could really screw myself up majorly! Surgery and other icky things could become an issue.
So here I sit, foot in the air, freezing, nothing to do, nothing to watch, frustrated and feeling stupid!
Calvin: 'Oh Boy, Oh Boy!'

Okay, as you may note by my extensive "journals i'm reading" list, I've been catching up on all the journals I read and more that are linked in here and there. Why? you might ask. When I could be happily playing the infamous game??? Well, Ed took it to some guy at school to copy it. So meanwhile I've been stuck at home with out my new game to play with.
Anywho, I'm continuing this entry becasue I've just read a hysterically great entry from Alone In a Crowd, it's all about the game my family calls "Slug Bug". Colleen goes into numerical detail of each rule they've come up with and how they are carried out. It's just great! It definitely'll give me some new stuff to throw out next time I see a bug. (FYI: when we play, the new bugs are worth double slugs! Can you say Ouch!?)
