Boy do I have a bunch of info to share today... stay tuned and don’t even think of hitting that back button! I’m gonna go in chronological order, not importance nor preference! |
there's more where that came from...
I did it! I went and saw the long awaited movie... and I must say that it was beyond awesome! In the end my little sis, Canela, and I went on Saturday before the Newsboys concert! We went in to Portland mega early to catch the flick in time. It was obviously packed but we were there early enough to get good seats!
Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes throw the whole movie together. Not only do they show the perfect chemistry, but they are both actors. They can show any type of emotion or intensity. Well, I’m not here to do a movie review so I’ll move on...
We then moved on to the mall to eat and pick up a couple things. I got the new Skillet and Bleach [Space] CDs (I haven't been able to really listen to either one yet, because I got home way too late and today I vegged and slept, I'm way sick!) I'm excited Tom (the guy April and I met last year doing a mall scavenger hunt) said they are both really good [from what I know, he's got great taste in music!]
Finally we were off to the Rose garden for an awesome concert! We got to our seats and Ren and Maria were already there (they were in the seats directly behind us... on the floor!) We all screamed with ecxitment and chatted for a bit. Then all of a sudden Ren excliams, "That is a Newsboy!"
Of course none of us believed her too much but she insisted so we ended up following him... across the floor, up the stairs (he started running), and out into the corridor! Ren was the first to catch up to him and she said, "Um excuse me, can I meet you?"
We all gathered around and were awstruck for a bit (turns out it was Duncan!) and then we let him be! We returned to are seats megally psyched!
Plankeye (give me a buzz if you have any linkage for them!) opened up with some great tunes, but unfortunatley most weren't familiar with them so it wasn't a big to do with the audience! Then came Geoff Moore & the Distance. They rocked the house and gave a very clear and touching message to everyone there. It came to a great moment of worship when they played "the Vow".
L8R on (between Geoff Moore & the Distance and Newsboys) we saw the woman who had earlier been with Duncan when we chased him down. This time she was with another (very pretty) woman who also had an all access pass... In utter curiosity we went up to them and asked what the connection was... The lady with Duncan is his fianc (I don't want to butcher anyone's name so I';m not gonna try! Sorry!) and the other lady is Phillip (the bass player)'s wife! (She deserves him and vice versa. Her name is Heather and she was really nice to us, we chatted up a storm waiting for the guys to come on. It was really awesome, it left me with an even better impression of the group!
Newsboys came on in a most surprising way... lowered down on circular platforms with glasses that lit up like alien eyes! It was awesome (I've got something w/that word today!) They played a couple oldies but goodies and lots of new stuff. Peter Furler and Duncan did an awesome gig with the drums. During "Breakfast" a big ship-like blimp thang came out flying over everyone. Cool, really cool.
After the concert there was a signing party @ Christian Supply. We went and met up with the Contenders who were there too. We had a mega wait in line, so we sang "If You're Happy And You Know It... Bang Your Head!" (speaking of that song, I wore that tee shirt today!) a couple times and then "Father Abraham"! That obviously didn't take up all our time, but it was fun for the time being! By the time we got in the Newsboys had just run out of the B&W promo pics, and they moved into the color postcards (the person right infront of me got the last B&W! But that was cool! While they were signing I told Phillip that his wife is awesome, really and truly nice in every sense of the word. He seemed surprised a bit @ the comment then blushed while saying that she is in fact his "better half, really!" (How sweet indeed!) The girls were behind the guys goofing off.. in the end Duncan's fianc (sorry, I just don't want to spell her name wrong) shot a rubber band @ one of the guys. He imediately blamed it on Heather (who had earlier predicted that reaction and warned her not to shoot it!) It was a kick to watch the interaction!
I got sigs from Plankeye for my friend David as well, 'cause if it wasn't for his CD, I'd have no real knowledge of Plankeye music!
Well I'm mega tired and unhealthy some I'm audi! L8R, God Bless!
